Hi, i have Emphysema and TB Granuloma and have had persistent chest infections for some time now. I am also on Methotrexate to treat psoriatic arthritis. in the past i have had chest x-rays and have not shown anything new except those as stated above. i have an extensive family history of lung cancer caused by cigarette smoking and I am a smoker myself. I have had a bronchoscopy which didn’t show anything but at the moment i have persistent pleuritic pain in my right side of my chest for nearly 9 weeks now and my GP has just advised to monitor this. I have a persistent cough and in the past hace coughed up a little blood stained sputum. As you can imagine i am extremely worried if i have something sinister going on and its being missed, what can i do?

Arthritis is not a disease, it is term which covers more than 100 medical conditions categorized according to their symptoms and causes. Osteoarthritis is undoubtedly the most common of them all while rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and infectious arthritis or septic arthritis are other common names for different arthritic conditions and symptoms.

Osteoarthritis occurs due to lack of elasticity in cartilages. In the joints two bones are held at a proper position by the ligaments and their ends covered by cartilages which works as a cushion and shock absorber as well as avoids the two bones from rubbing each other. In osteoarthritis cartilages become brittle which stretches the tendons and ligaments to cause severe pain while moving the joints. It is accompanied by mild inflammation but severe pain whenever weight is put on the joints in the activities like walking, standing or bending the joints. This arthritic condition restricts the range of the movement of the joint. It is also well known as degenerative disease as it is prevalent in the people above the age of 55 yrs. Over age can cause loss of elasticity in the cartilages even if the person is in good health unless special care and precautions are being taken to prevent it.

The word “Arthritis” originates from inflammation of joints. As the name says Arthritis is a chronic disease where inflammation of joints is complemented by swelling, stiffness, redness and lastly pain. Arthritis patients often are subjected to a lot of pain specially when swelling within the joints tend to aggravate causing instant pain and redness surrounding that particular area. The joint bones inclined to become brittle and weak this in turn affects loss of calcium within the body. In some Arthritis forms it is found that the cartilages that are found between bones tend to get worn down and at worst of times may get fully damaged. Therefore it is imperative that one is very cautious in going about things, early treatment of Arthritis is a must and at best let the treatment be fully natural in order to get the best benefits over a longer period.
