There are a host of diseases and medical conditions associated with gout. Nothing is ever simple with gout. In a way it is like gout opens “a can of worms” and makes you eligible for other diseases. For starters, you are at high risk of developing gout if you have leukemia, lymphoma, hemoglobin disorders and hypothyroidism. More interesting are diseases and medical conditions that do not only put you at risk of developing gout but should also be ruled out once you are diagnosed with gout.

i have psoriatic arthritis and have been having to go to the doc. alot!! My medical bills are stacking up, and of course I cant work because im in a severe amount of pain!! my hubby works but we still cant afford them. Am i just screwed and going to have to let it go on my credit????
The official cause of psoriatic arthritis is not currently known by the medical community. It is thought that the condition is linked to a combination of genetic factors, immune system differences and environmental causes.
I have had severe joint pain and fatigue(along with other symptoms) for two years now. i feel like NO ONE is listening to me. I think i have an auto immune disorder that no one has diagnosed yet. I have high WBC counts, very high C-reactive protein levels, and very high sed rates. my ANA was negative, lyme disease neg, celiac disease neg, sjorgens syndrome neg, rheumatoid arthritis neg….I do have a strong family history of psoriasis and arthritis though. does anyone know about psoriatic arthritis? or have any other ideas about other auto immune disorders that i might have? i saw a rheumatologist and was treated horribly. i am never going back. i feel like the doctors are missing something. i would be eternally grateful if someone in the medical field could help me with this. thank you
In the past 3 years I’ve been getting really sore thighs, knees, groin, neck and hands (although the hands thing could easily be attributed to how much time I spend on my computer).
I have also developed this horrible lumpy rash on my elbows and knees. Recently my mum mentioned that a few of my female cousins have this thing called psoriatic arthritis and it sounds like what I have. When I went to the doctor she was really nice but she said there was no test for it so I should just try to keep warm, do loads of exercise and come back when I had an inflamed joint to show her. The thing is, they never seem to get obscenely swollen or inflamed so I have no reason to go back. But it’s really uncomfortable, I find myself having to go walking around the city all evening because sitting still is so sore.
Any tips or advice? Because I am purely self-diagnosed I’m not going to go out and buy any drugs or anything. But I would be keen to try anything else that might help.
Thanks.
