How do you to decrease/lessen Psoriasis scales?

Question by dorsal: How do you to decrease/lessen Psoriasis scales?
I have been taking Fluocinonide (strongest), Methotrexate 15mg (week), cut out sugar, using Clove Oil (powerful antifungal) anti-fungal diet, increased water, Aquafor Ointment, coconut oil, infrared Sauna … amazingly, all this has apparently no effect on the skin scales. Which are extensive and continuously crumbling.

No more joint pain (Psoriatic Arthritis) since taking the Methotrexate, but NO improvement on the scales. I have been to 20-30 different doctors over the past decade, none have concluded anything, other than attempting to lessen the symptoms.

Question by luvkolin: I have severe joint pain and also tiny pits in my fingernails. Is it psoriasis?
I’ve had joint pain my entire life. Im now almost 29. it started with knee and ankle pain and now is more painful and effects my shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. I recently started to go to a specialist to find out whats going on. the first one did blood work and something came back positive so she referred me to an arthritis specialist. He basically told me he is sure I have Psoriatic arthritis. he noticed i have tiny lil pits in my fingernails( looks like they’ve been poked with a sewing needle) and right away made th assumption that i have psoriasis. i have never had any of the skin rashes or other symptoms of psoriasis. i find it strange and am very sceptical of this assumption. any and all info shared would be greatly appreciated!! thank u

Pustular Psoriasis Facts and Treatment

Article by Franchis Adam

Pustular psoriasis is an uncommon form of psoriasis. Psoriasis is a common skin disease that affects the life cycle of skin cells. Generalised pustular psoriasis is a rare form of psoriasis, which presents as widespread pustules on a background of red and tender skin. Pustular psoriasis is uncommon in the United States. Pustular psoriasis affects all races. The average age of those affected is 50 but the range is wide and rarely it can affect children. Generalized pustular psoriasis is often triggered by stopping topical or oral steroids. Oral steroids in psoriasis patients are actually dangerous. They do clear up the psoriasis while the patient is taking them, but after the patient stops, the psoriasis often comes back even worse.

People with pustular psoriasis have clearly defined, raised bumps on the skin that are filled with pus (pustules). The skin under and around these bumps is red. Large portions of your skin may redden.

Psoriasis Remedy

Article by Lucy Diamond

Psoriasis is a chronic condition causing rapid skin cell growth. Normal skin cells grow slowly, are sloughed off and replaced by new cells about once a month. With psoriasis, new skin cells move to the surface in days, forming thick patches called plaques. Patches generally appear on the knees, elbows, scalp, hands, feet, or lower back. Although the exact cause of psoriasis is unknown, doctors believe that the immune system is a factor. This determination was made by the increased number of white blood cells found between abnormal layers of skin, and the fact that psoriasis responds positively to drugs which suppress the immune system. In addition, the condition is believed inherited, as approximately one third of sufferers have family members with psoriasis.

Arthritis and Psoriasis

Article by Jonathan Blood Smyth

Psoriatic skin disease is a relatively common condition for which the treatments are somewhat unpleasant and not entirely effective. It is known that an arthritic syndrome is associated with this skin disorder but even then the diagnosis may be missed when patients with psoriasis present with joint signs. There are many effects from psoriatic arthritis on the joints and the arthritic damage can lead to disability and compromised quality of life. In the United Kingdom the prevalence of psoriasis itself is around 2%, with 14% of this number exhibiting some signs of involvement in their joints.

The symptoms of joint involvement can be present in about 15 percent of people before any of the skin changes become obvious and ultrasound of tendons in people with psoriasis have shown abnormalities without any joint symptoms. A lesser number of joints are typically affected in psoriatic in comparison to rheumatoid arthritis although they may be affected in a similar arrangement, with in some instances only one or two joints affected. The entheses, the areas where the ligaments and tendons are attached to the bones, are typically affected with pain and inflammation. The attachment of the Achilles tendon to the heel bone is a good example.

Psoriasis Remedies

Article by jannet

Psoriasis is a skin infection or disease that is caused because the immune system becomes hyperactive i.e. the immune system produces more cells that the usual. Generally in one body there are white blood cells known as the T cells that are present. These T cells or white blood cells help your body to fight against diseases. When the T cells double i.e. are produced more than the usual it leads to infection or disease like Psoriasis. After a certain period about 10 to 30% of people suffering from psoriasis can also get psoriatic arthritis, which cause stiffness and swelling in the joints and it is very painful too. There are various types of Psoriasis they are: scalp psoriasis, genital psoriasis, Facial Psoriasis, feet and hand psoriasis, Pustular psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, guttate psoriasis, inverse psoriasis and erythrodermic psoriasis.

Some of the psoriasis remedies that are popular include coal tar, salicylic acid and dithranol. Salicylic acid is used in some acne preparations and assists the skin in peeling and healing. There are some strong prescription medications that your physician may recommend for severe psoriasis but due to side effects this must be carefully considered. Phototherapy is another treatment option and it uses uv lighting to help the skin clear. The symptoms and severity differ for psoriasis sufferers and some complain more about the itchiness, others about the pain. It will be almost impossible for your skin to maintain a healthy amount of moisture in dry air. Using a room humidifier will help provide and lock in that moisture.
